Clean yourself

F**ing shit. I hate this. I am sick, literally, of your stench. and stop playing I love the way you burn. It's driving me nuts. I don't want to stand there and watch you burn. You're really gonna cry if you keep it up. Shut that f**king thing off.

A piece of shit
Living below my bunk
On his dirty bed
Killing my nose

Small fish in a Big Pond

The first week is almost over. It hasn't been as heavy as I thought it would be. The hardest class so far was CompSci. Yesterday's lab was confusing. and the person sitting next to me was like, o this is easy, click this and type that, click here, ...print. :o unix is very different. I had La Burrita? for dinner, which I just finished. It's nice having a fridge to hold leftovers. And a microwave to heat things up. Then I rushed to that lab, then rushed to Davis for CE 24. Dracup seems cool. I've been in so many halls, and there's still more! I never really thought about how complex a college campus is. Calapalooza was fun. Free popcorn and hot dogs. And dancing crews. And fliers fliers fliers!

Today's math discussion was fun. JaeYoung used a Starcraft example for math. haha. I just realized how confusing all these office hours are. There's slots here, people there. Open times here and there. I have to plan out where to go.
I have some reading to do, and some homework to start on. blah

Time Crunchy

There's been so much happening the last few days. There have been many note-worthy things/events I attended and things I have seen/noticed.

Church on Sunday was amazing. It was the first time in a long time that I had teared up during a service. For some reason, the praise and the message made me tear up
a lot. It was definitely a moving service. I met a lot of people from there and I hope to attend a small group.
About other fellowships, I've been to several. There are so many names, so so so many names. After going to just two fellowships and talking to people for a bit, I've met so many people. I have names down, but not the faces :/
I went to eat at Ici's on Monday. 1 and a half scoop for 3.60$. :o it was good though. Earl Grey and Orange Creamsicle Sherbet. but wow, those lines. Other trips, to Memorial Glade for Convocation, Top Dog, frisbee, and frisbee.,.. and more frisbee. Taste at Haste on Tuesday was nice. I met, again, more people. I felt like this was a more beginner's Bible fellowship, but I think now that it should be a good place for me to re-start.
I tried to go to a party last night. It didn't work out and instead we ended up getting Boba, which I had in my room from earlier. We played billiards and then table tennis. I got up to my dorms at 2:30 ish. ha. It was fun. but tiring.

Stuff. Stuff! Oh yea, I forgot about Caltopia- FREEE stuff. hopefully I can use some of the stuff I didn't trash. FREE~ O and New Student Welcome Night was very well done. Though Polly, uber competitive at everything, thought it was too long, I thought it was a great event. skits were awesome, the video was well screened, the message good. Kbbq was ok, the food led to more MEET PEOPLE :o

I never knew that college would bring me to so many people. It's somewhat overwhelming

What a day~

So it's almost 2am. But I've finally settled in. cleaned up and all. The ride was uneventful. I met Ben from pre-school. Nothing else happened. So we got here after a bit of a detour. I had a lot of help unpacking and moving in. Jacqueline, Josh, Daniel, John, Eric, and the family. :]
I'm surprised I fit most of my stuff inside. Dinner at Tako Sushi was nice. Bulgolgi Dombori? Beef in a light terriyaki-like sauce/eggs/rice.yum
I hope I can remember all these names, as well as where all my stuff is. I hope that I don't forget anything uber important. I hope...there's so much... Alok is a nice guy. From India, but he's learning fast. Not too thick an accent. Iono about Benny. He's still not in. Partying? Ah, I hope I can get on good terms with these roomies. Alok seems good. Benny... iono. I met a lot of interesting people today. And finally learned how to play Apples to Apples. Lily. Jeremy. POLLY! Anthony. MunSyeo? Interesting people here. definitely
Then, after I went to take a shower, I met three drunk people.. or rather I saw them walk drunk back to their room..Nisha, Eva, and Michelle. wow.
Other names to throw in here. Ali. Chris. Mona is on the same floor?
Well. Off to bed. Long day again tomorrow. Cheers~ and happy birthday Polly

With this close, a new beginning

Move-in Day is less than one week away. But it really doesn't feel that close. Er. interesting. close and close. I've been doing quite a bit of shopping around. I went to Bed Bath and Beyond last week and spent half the fin. aid grant for attending summer school. The thing I've been shopping around most for is stationery stuff because there's never enough of that stuff. We got some great deals after penny pinching around Staples and WalMart. I really hope I'm not forgetting anything that I need. Need. What I really need to do is start to pack all that stuff. And pack my clothes too. I'm not really sure what personal items to bring along. Nothing really stands out as necessary. Even that bear I got for graduation won't really work out. It's red. or maybe a bright pink/red.

I haven't done much in preparing for Cal to start and I'm not sure if this coming week will help any. The due date for fall semester fees was today. Apparently, it's the "soft" due date? I'm still waiting on fin.aid. ugh. As for signing up for classes, I thought I was set with my schedule in mid-June. Then when I got to orientation, I was scrambling around to make sure I could get my classes because I was unsure of my humanities course. Currently, I'm taking a course about the re-peopling of America. It should be fine, other than the fact that it is an upper division course and the reading may be a bit heavy. Everything else was also scrambled together. I signed up for computer science, math, and physics and while I like how the lectures are arranged, the discussions and labs had to be swapped around and whatnot. I somewhat regret signing up for the comp sci lab/disc that I did, as it conflicts with other DECals/ Seminars. O well, I can't take that many courses anyways... About DECals, I'm still wondering what to take. I have the slots for either two engineering ones, or one on Taiwanese, because of time conflicts. I really wanted to take the language one, but I don't think I can handle the workload. O yea, I will also be taking a seminar on making Bio-Filters. Not xacly sure what we'll do, but all I can think of is making a gigantic Brita filter. :D I also want to audit another engineering course and just listen in on the lectures, but that's negotiable.

So I guess I have been preparing, but I still have not been preparing... once I move, there will be so much stuff that won't have time to look over. All this time spent looking / scanning through possible classes will all have gone to waste pretty much because what I ended up with was a fairly standard schedule. I guess it could be called a heavy schedule- 17 units, but I still want to take more! Due to AP/IB testing, I think I now have 38.6 units transferred. I don't know how AVC courses will count, but I doubt they will. I don't really need the units.

Up, up, up we go,
climbing ever higher.
We want to look back,
but of toils we soon tire.
We peer over in our sack,
and hope we don't see,
at the bottom, a hole.

Snip Snip

So I finally got a haircut. Yay. I think it looks a bit more spiffy. It's short enough to spike now, which I havent had in a couple years. hehe

During the last few days, I've had several conversations with my sister about food, specially fructose. I finally got around to watching that vid Sugar: the Bitter Truth. I enjoyed the lecture/presentation a lot. I remember having a thought about fructose in biology because I read that it couldn't be metabolized normally like glucose and that it could only be broken down slowly. It all makes sense now. It's just a question about whether I will eat/drink HFCS now or go for aspartame more now. hmm

For the record, pectin isn't made of glucose. That's amylopectin.

It's all talk

Yesterday, and at 2am this morning, I had some very different conversations. One with an old friend. One with a complete stranger.

Yvette asked me what I thought about drugs. I don't really know what I think about drugs. I gave an overarching answer about the medicinal reasons of drugs...benefits, placebos...stuff. but how exactly is it possible to have an opinion about these substances? I have no clue. When I asked her why she was asking me about this topic, she made me guess. O yay. I didn't really think that she'd be taking them, and so I avoided saying "You have been taking them for a long time," I said something along the lines of "You have been pondering about taking them for a long time." After circling around, she tells me straight out that I'm avoiding that she takes recreational drugs.
Does it bother you
I'm a druggie
How exactly am I supposed to answer that? Moreover, just saying, "I'm a druggie and splicing that question into a part statement DID bother me. Well, I guess I have to say I wasn't all too bothered, though I wish she wouldn't take drugs. I don't want to say it's the slippery slope, but what else can I say?
As for her reasons for taking dexxing and other stuff, it's because she sees everything that she does as a failure. :/ How do we turn people away from those views, and how do we change them without being overbearing?

Then on the other conversation, I talked with a guy I have never met before. Kelvin. My first contact with him was a somewhat disturbing text message requesting me to tell "me" about myself. It took me a while to figure out that this dude was the person Tom had requested my number for. So this dude finds me on Facebook. Surprise~ and adds me. We're both going to Cal in the fall, but still somewhat strange. after a few minimal hellos/getting acquainted, he begins a series a questions about my spiritual life/ Christian walk. wow. This guy really takes his faith to heart. We messaged each other back for about 2 hours, mainly him asking questions. But seriously, I don't think I've quite asked those questions to myself before.

It's amazing how different people can be.Yvette I have know for several years and this is the first time she talks to me more about herself and her view on life. Then Kelvin, this new guy I have yet to meet, starts off our acquaintance with his view on life.

-----

Today, I went to Hurricane Harbor for the first time. Did not know quite what to expect but it was fun. I hope my shoulders don't burn that bad. So far they're just red. Good sign for being outdoors all day? For once, there were more gals than guys :] during one of these trips together. I will really miss these friends.

Often we don't come to realize
that we've been covering our eyes,
And not fully taking in the scenery
when there's still so much greenery.
He takes us where He will.
But we can't just stay still.

Debut

These past two weeks, but really the last one, have been some of the more exciting weeks of summer. Shamu, one of my closer friends, turned 18 yesterday and her parents planned a big Filipino style debut for her. That being said, this week was spent practicing dances at her house. So much fun. I remember back when I had my first dance, and how lame and yet how exhilarating I was, and now I wish I had learned to dance earlier. We danced the waltz and the bachata, or rather pranced along as John, Shamu, Mike, Julia, Josh, and Priscila danced. It was still very fun and finally got some exercise playing table tennis. :] I clapped for tinikling again and messed up on the last eight :<. Me so sorry. Dancing to You're so Sexy was great. I messed up a lot even though we danced to it three times during the party. The DJ taught us the samba, waltz, bachata, eletric slide, macarena, that celion dion song, and a couple more i don't know the names of. It takes me time to get it, but I really enjoyed myself. Now I don't have to stand awkwardly/grind. haha jk

This event was one of the last meetings with my classmates. I know I will miss them. It was awesome watching you all today. I regret not going earlier so that I could dance with Shamu, but it was fun nevertheless. The reason for my tardiness is truly irking and rather petty. Meh.

Today (yesterday) was definitely a memorable day. So many new experiences, yet I won't be able to go back to them anytime soon. Life..life...life
