I came home this weekend, after Koinonia's Cal Connect event this Saturday. It was fun hanging out with friends, though we didn't have many incoming freshmen show up for the event. I thought it'd be nice to be home after working and being in summer school for two months. I didn't realize how hot it is in southern Cali is this time of year. Berkeley weather is really awesome. Comfortable heat in the afternoons, and breezy mornings and evenings.
Some things I learned during summer school- working in groups requires a leader to make the process work out. Our project for AAS171 worked out, but as the criticism showed, we lost a lot of people with the long spiel. It was nice working with Sony Vegas again. I found out something new this time. I figured out some of the effects it can do. GREEN screening is some pretty awesome stuff. I am now almost done with my humanities requirements. With the completion of AAS R2A next semester, it will be done. Then onto all sciences for the rest of senior and super senior standing years.
So... I come home, not really knowing what I will be doing here. Today was sunday, so that means church from early in the morning. It was nice seeing some people again. But I really dislike people who go out of their way to complement me... It was nice seeing Brian and Kevin, and Sam. Growing up; haha
But then there are the usual things. I tried driving and dad kept on reminding me to drive slower, or be careful of the light change, or to watch my turning speed--which were all needed pointers I guess since I have not driven in so long. Then there is this thing about money that continues to bug me... I know we're on a low budget, but to keep talking about it openly with me, but not expecting me to react to it. Penny pinching about things he doesn't think we need, or saying that mom is spending too much on credit cards when she goes costco or grocery shopping. I can't even gift her something because he said it'd be a waste.
--This really is making me not want to come back except when it's really necessary. I'm even considering sending money home for mom to buy groceries... like wth is going on...
Summer is almost over, and I really hope it ends on a good note. I have a few days more at home. I want to visit more peeps, but can't seem to contact em.
